Description:
Silver teaspoon, attributed to John Gardiner (1734-1776), New London, CT, c. 1760-1770. Stamped "IC" and engraved "S*P" for Sarah Porter. Condition: damaged. The spoon was owned by Sarah Porter (1726-1774) of Hadley, MA, who married Samuel Hopkins (1729-1811) of West Springfield, MA, in 1756; their daughter Lucy Hopkins (1768-1813) of Hadley, MA, married Rev William Riddel (1768-1849) of Colrain, MA, in 1797; their daughter Selina Riddel (1807-1837) married Caleb Allen Cooley of South Deerfield, MA (1800-1845).
