Description: Rectangular shaped tinned sheet iron bread basket with arched, flared ends. The basket is painted allover in dark brown asphaltum, the interior is painted with a yellow border of stylized bell flowers and an entertwined scrolls, and the interior is decorated with red flowers, green leaves, and black tendrils on a white ground, the center is plain with a border of four melons in the corners, and a wriggle work border in yellow. Basket is attributed to the Harvey Filley tinshop, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1830-60, based on a similar example at the Winterthur Museum, 1959.2047 Condition: very good, few losses, little restoration
