Description:
Yellow painted tinned sheet iron box in the shape of a book, with curved spine and hinged lid. Interior of box has small curled piece metal on edge for a fiction closure. One side is painted with a green vine and large red berries, while the reverse is inscribed with the script letter “N.” in red paint. The box is attributed to Zachariah Brackett Stevens (1778–1856) of Stevens Plains (now Westbrook), Maine, and dates ca. 1830.
