Description:
English brass candlestick with a plain flange over a molded down-curved knop around the rim; over a plain shaft over a molded knop; over a narrow vertical slot in the shaft with a side slide ejector with a small knob handle; over a molded knop and a hexagonal base. The ejector pushed up the candle so that it could be burned to the end. There were many variations of side push-up ejectors developed, all of which could become sealed with drippings or extinguished candles; however, this form could be easily cleaned and repaired compared to later push-up mechanisms. Condition: Ejector is hard to move, rough casting on the underside of base. very rubbed base, has lost definition and detail
