Description:
Green floral and stag and figure design that was stenciled and block-printed on joined paper.

Label Text:
Early English large-scale floral wallpapers mimicked popular fabric designs, both of which could enliven domestic spaces. At a time when most walls were either whitewashed or sheathed in wood, installation of such a dramatic and colorful paper would have made a lasting impression on all who made use of the space. This example decorated a room in the Meshech-Weare house in Hampston Falls, New Hampshire.
