Description:
Silver spoon with a double-swell fiddle handle, rounded shoulders, and a pointed oval bowl, which is marked "A. Sanborn." in a banner and "LOWELL." in a rectangle on the back of the handle for Amos Sanborn, and engraved with the initials "MS" in script on the front of the handle and "Abby" in script on the back of the handle. Amos Sanborn worked as a silversmith in Lowell from circa 1849 to 1866; and in partnership with Horace Baldwin Bacon (1841-1885) in Lowell as A. Sanborn & Co. from 1866 to 1875/76, joined by Henry McCobb Bacon (1829-1899) after 1874.
