Label Text:
Excerpt from wall label, for the exhibition “The Unexpected Encounters of Looking Again,” November 28 - March 15, 2007:
The New York Collection for Stockholm presents a slice of the 1960’s New York scene through prints by many of the foremost artists of the twentieth century. The portfolio was assembled in 1973 by Experiments in Art and Technology, executed at Styria Studios in NY and contains work donated by the artists. This image represents Richard Serra’s contribution to the Portfolio. While this work is on paper, it retains much of the energy and power characteristic of Serra’s primary medium of steel through the bold, thick lines that make up the circle. - Rebecca Karp (M.A. '08)
