Description:
This black vase features a carved Awanyu design around its body. A common design on Southwestern pottery, Awanyu is a Tewa creature known to be serpent-like and to symbolize water. Besides the carved Awanyu, the rest of the vase is left blank and has been polished to reveal a shiny black surface. AP2018
