Description:
Wooden trunk covered in dark leather. Lined in light calico fabric with repeating dark pattern. Hinged panel inside lid, with a single divider. Outside is studded with tacks, and hinged with leather. Handles are leather on either side, with one intact leather over-strap. Metal-reinforced corners. Handwritten note: "This trunk owned by William Skinner of Northampton, 1845. Given by Eleanor Skinner Warner to her brother Joseph Skinner, March 1, 1928."
