Description:
One of two raised, tall, bellied silver canns with a circular, stepped foot; applied auricular hollow handle with scroll terminal, which is marked "Davis, Palmer, & Co.", "Pure Coin Silver", "BOSTON", and "Pure Coin Silver" on the base. The cann is inscribed in script on the front, "Clarissa Stebbins / to the / Church in / Northampton. / 1820." In the Stebbins family files at Historic Northampton, there is a reference to this silver. "2 silver cups for the communion table presented to the First Church by Daniel Stebbins, a bequest from his wife Clarissa Stebbins who died Feb. 26, 1820."
