Description:
Silver tablespoon with an elliptical bowl (tip worn) and double molded drop; straight hemispherical shaft tapered to wide upturned rounded-end handle; and long midrib on the front of the handle. The spoon is marked "P.V" in a square twice on the back of handle for Peter Vergereau (1700-1755), and engraved with the initials "M.E" in block letters on the back of the handle. Vergereau was probably granted freemanship in 1721 and worked as a silversmith until his death in 1755.
