Label Text:
Excerpt from wall label, for the exhibition “The Unexpected Encounters of Looking Again,” November 28 - March 15, 2007:
During the 1960s and 70s, Morris helped define three of the principal artistic movements of the period: Minimalist sculpture, Process Art, and Earthworks. Often associated with works that use impermanent industrial materials, Morris’ works on paper are surprising to those only familiar with his sculptural creations. The lithograph Blind Time III is playful, as it can be seen as alluding to a childhood art project of stamping ones hands on paper or imprinting them on clay as a gift for loved ones. It can also be viewed as playing with the idea of the artist’s hand or imprint in terms of authorship. - Rebecca Karp (M.A. '08)
