Description:
Chinese export porcelain teacup (saucer - HD 59.278.1) in the Famille rose palette of rose, black, brown, yellow, green, blue, purple, iron-red, and turquoise. The exterior has a standing woman in rose, yellow and tourqoiuse with her left hand over a jumping(?) fish; a seated older man fishing on the bank who wears a brown straw hat and his purple robe open to show a sagging chest and stomach; and a tall tree with a large overhanging branch and iron red berries, flowers or leaves. A boy with a brown straw basket on his back leans over to pick up a fish.
