Description:
Sermon titled "A Discourse Delivered in the Audience of His Excellency Caleb Strong, Esq., Governor, His Honor William Phillips, Esq., Lieutentant Governor, The Honorable Council, and the two branches of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. On the anniversary election, May 31, 1815" by James Flint, Minister of the Church in the East Parish of Bridgewater, and printed by Russell, Cutler and Co. for Benjamin Russell... Printer to the State. Caleb Strong (1744/5-1819) was born and died in Northampton, Mass., graduated from Harvard in 1764, and was admitted to the bar in 1772. He was a member of the General Court during the Revolution and the Northampton Committee of Safety; county attorney from 1776-1800; member of the state consitutional convention in 1779; state senator from 1780-1789; U.S. senator from 1789-1796; and Massachusetts governor from 1800-1807 and 1812-1816.
