SKINNER CATALOGUE: A handsome night light in cut glass, shaped like a long stem wine glass, but with a 3/4" hole cut in the bowl near the bottom, for the purpose of creating a draft. A 2" diam. stub candle was placed in the bowl of these lights, the bowl being deep enough to keep the flame from blowing out, and the candle being kept lit all night in the hall or bedroom. They were sold under various names such as "Burglar's Horror." 1870's and 80's. Cat. 7/28/1938.
