SKINNER CATALOGUE: A heavy paper packeage for 100 two and a half inch matches. The splints are square cut, sulphur dipped three eighths inches and tipped with an orange mixture, probably containing amorphous phosphorus.
The package still has a broken green stamp, which bears the bust of a full bearded man and the inscription:
U S Inter. Revenue. - one 1 cent - The J. G. Hotchkiss Match Co. - West Haven - Connecticut.
Date period 1862 - 1881. Cat. 6/12/1936
