Description: The Great Horned Owl kachina features large bundles of feathers on either side of his head, carved big yellow eyes and a beak, a fur neckpiece, and a chest sash with small shells. Painted red with white spots, he wears blue armbands, a blue yarn bracelet, and a cuff. In either hand he carries yucca sticks to whip misbehaving clowns with. Around his waist is a white belt, brown loincloth, patterned sash, and woven cotton leggings or pants. He also features a pair of fringed shoes. Standing in a watchful position on a wooden platform, he was made and sold for the tourist trade. AP2018
