Description:
ca. late 19th or early 20th century plaster cast of a Parian marble original dating to the Classical Period, ca. 460 BCE. A female figure wearing a peplos stands facing right. She holds a pyxis, the lid of which is on the ground in front of her. Her right arm is raised as if she either has just taken or is just about to take something out of the pyxis. An elaborate vegetal motif adorns the top of the stele. The original marble relief after which this cast is made is located at the Staatliche Museen in Berlin, Germany.
Provenience: probably Paros, the Cyclades, Greece (original)
