Description:
Cylindrical red-figure ware pyxis, a round container with lid topped by a knob; the scenes show three figures in domestic scene: woman seated before a kalathos (basket) of wool; man offering wool and leg of meat; woman holding mirror

Lid: The tip of the black knob is broken off. The flat top of the lid is decorated with a wreath of leaves formed of two branches bound together, red on black with white dots for berries, between two rows of tongue pattern, black on red. The inside of the lid was left unpainted.

Box: The body of the container is a concave sided box. A narrow black line on a reserved space decorates the top and bottom; the inside is painted black. The picture panels portray an indoor scene. The interior space is emphasized by an elaborate doorway which has two panels framed above and below by bands with black studs; in the upper panel of the right door there is an ornamented keyhole. Between the doors is a post with a row of large black studs. The sill below, lintel above and jambs are all drawn in. To the right of the door is a joined pole standing to the height of the band separating the upper and lower door panels. To the right of the large door, a woman is seated holding a ball of wool in her right hand. In front of her is a wool basket above which is draped a piece of cloth. Next, a youth leaning on a staff extends his left arm with a ball of wool; in his right hand is a piece of cloth. Lastly, a maid carrying a mirror and a piece of drapery runs to the right towards the door.

Base: The red clay, unglazed hollow bottom consists of a black dot in the center and two concentric black circles around it. The base of the foot, inside and outside, is painted black and the upper edge of the unpainted base possesses a black band. There are three semi-circular openings cut into the base.
