Description:
Ovoid-shaped, thrown jug with beaded lower edge, tapered base, swelled sides, narrowing shoulders, small outturned spout with rounded lip; attached ribbed strap handle, covered all over with manganese black lead glaze, on bottom of pot inscribed in ink and pencil below “Col. 1918/ Yarmouth Port/Cape Cod.” Formerly in the collection of Burton N. Gates. Condition: some loss of body and glaze along the side of the handle
