Oval cylindrical, side opening with hinged cover.
From original file: Silver oval upright cylinder with applied, molded, reeded borders at a slightly domed top and at the bottom. Outside bookhinges for the top and the pull-down panel side. Blue-tinned grater is neatly hand-punched in elliptical pattern and slides out along two silver brackets that hold it in place. Extensive residue from polishing powder. Hallmarks: maker's mark "IR" (inside cover and inside base; inside side panel); sovereign's head (inside cover and inside base); lion passant (inside cover and inside base; inside side; outside rim of cover); date letter "S" (inside side).
