Description:
English; George III. Maker's mark "IP" (inside top and bottom). Bright cut, with two lids.
From original file: possibly made by Joseph Preedy or James Phipps (Stearns). Silver box, long and pointed, with borders of bright cut engraving on top and bottom. Top, with applied molded rim, opens on hinge set flush in 1 cm from the end; hinge is concealed with one of two bands of bright cut engraving. Fixed steel grater, slightly domed, is punched with border in oval pattern and concentric circles extending outward.
