Description:
Silver oval body with alternating concave and flat-fluted sides and two engraved bright-cut bands with floral motifs; stepped dome-shaped oval cover with inset hinge and oval ivory finial, bright-cut decoration at hinge; straight octagon shaped spout at tip; wooden scroll handle; straight octagon shaped spout at tip; wooden scroll handle secured by pins to octagon shaped handle sockets; two vacant engraved cartouches on either side. Wooden stand repeats fluting motif; stands on four short brass-colored legs. Hallmarks: date letter "B" (script?) or worker's mark. Condition: bad firescale, loose handle, handle cracked at scroll. Comments: Perhaps either the ivory finial or the wooden handle had been replaced at one time, creating the inconsistency of material.
