A Jacobite engraved ‘Airth Castle’ Amen glass, circa 1740-50, the broad trumpet bowl diamond-point engraved with the crowned cypher of James VIII of Scotland, the monogram JR direct and reversed entwined with the numeral 8, flanked by inscribed verses from the Jacobite Anthem, "God Save the King we Pray/ God Bless the King we Pray/ God save The King/ Send Him Victorious/ Happy and Glorious/ Soon to Reign Over Us/ God Save Thee King/ God Bless the Prince of Wales/The True born Prince of Wales/ Sent Us by Thee/
Grant us one Favour more/ The King for to Restore/ As Thou has done before/ Thee Familie" Bordered by scrollwork, the drawn clear stem enclosing an air-tear bead, the plain conical foot with a pontil mark. Condition: Triangular damage to the bowl rim on obverse with associated short cracks - visible in Sotheby’s 1997, cat. illust.
