Description:
Framed print (engraving on steel) titled "Valley of the Connecticut" engraved by R. Branard, based on a drawing by William Henry Bartlett (1809-1854). This print also appeared in Volume 1 of "American Scenery" (London: George Virtue, 1840) by Nathaniel Parker Willis, which is illustrated with engravings made from Bartlett's drawings from his four visits to the United States between 1836 and 1852. The view looks north from Mount Holyoke over the Connecticut River and 'Sugar Loaf' in South Deerfield, with a hunter in the center and two people on the right.
