Description:
Partially hand-colored black and white print titled "A Letter from a Great Man's BUTLER" depicting a man seated at a long table in a coffee house with a small cup and saucer by his right elbow as he reads letter with surrounded by three men, one with his arm over the reader's shoulder, and a woman watching him carefully. There is a pediment doorway and a map of America on a roller hanging on the wall in the background. This print has been cut down; however Yale University Library and The Lewis Walpole Library have the same print which was published by E. Hedges, No. 92, Cornhill, Oct. 21, 1781. Edward Hedges was listed as a "Print seller & Colour Warehouse, 92, Cornhill" in "Kent's Directory" for the Year 1794 for the Cities of London and Westminster, & Borough of Southwark.
