Label Text:
The photographs evoke the freedom-seeking crowds who--under the guidance of Boris Yeltsin--deterred the restoration of Communist power. At that time Yeltsin was the president of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. Amidst of the turmoil in Russia's capital, Chekhoz's couple, the artist and his beloved girl Zhenia, take a walk in their own world. Yet the figures' contrasting backgrounds visually disrupt the unity of the scene, indicating that their world fell apart for good.
