Label Text:
The bright blue-green color contains the vague outlines of the house from print No. 1, which is now boarded up and deteriorating. It appears as if seen through a window with the white shapes as reflections of light. The female figure in front of the building seems appalled by its condition. She belongs to the Chekhovian realm and is a stranger in Vassiliev’s environment. The various elements in the composition are united by the color, which seems to be part of yet another sphere. It is this thought-provoking combination of different elements, intriguing and irritating at the same time, which distinguishes Vassiliev’s art.
