Description:
Brass button that may have belonged to Samuel Mirick (1695/6-1778) of Springfield, Massachusetts. Mirick married Isabel Ingersol (1701-1790) on Nov. 23, 1725, and was commissioned a Captain of the Fifth Foot Company in the Town of Springfield in the South Regiment of Militia in the County of Hampshire of which John Worthington Esq. is Colonel on August 28, 1754. The Miricks settled in West Springfield where they owned a farm and he held the offices of assessor, constable and surveyor; and both are buried in the Old Agawam cemetery.
