Description:
Three coins that were found in a small red purse (see HD 97.72.3) that may have belonged to Samuel Mirick (1695/6-1778) of Springfield, Massachusetts.The three coins are English: large copper coin (with spots of green oxidation) marked "GEORGIUS II . REX on one side, and "BRITANIA/ 1730" on the reverse; very worn, small silver coin marked "GEORGIUS II (?) . REX on one side, and "BRITANIA/ 1754" (?) on the reverse; and small silver coin marked "GEORGIUS III . REX" on one side, and "BRITANIA/ 1775" on the reverse.
