Description:
Whale oil lamp, u-shaped font, stem, and wide, stepped, round base, original burner, good shape. white paper label on base, #66. Wayne Hilt, pewter expert and dealer, attributes this unmarked oil lamp to Roswell Gleason of Dorchester, MA. Roswell Gleason was a prolific maker of all types of pewter, including porringers. He worked in Dorchester, MA from 1822-1871.
