Description:
Straw top hat, probably a work hat. Simple, no decoration or lining. Woven in 1 piece from crown to brim. Woven more like a basket (central from top of crown) rather than in rows of plait which would then have been sewn. Straw is wider and flatter than a lot of bonnet straw in the collection. Crown is 20" in diameter and 5.75" tall, more or less straight sided (inside is 7" across). Top of crown is 6" across, and concave. Brim is 3" deep and turns up sharply.
