Description:
Blue and white speckled petticoat made of a blue wool weft and white, plain weave cotton warp, which is pleated to a cotton waistband. This type of fabric was used for coarse, everyday clothing such as this petticoat. Many home weavers in the early 19th century purchased factory-spun cotton to use with either woolen or linen wefts, which were still often home spun.
