Description:
Woman's two piece dress of alternating vertical bands of cream silk faille and cream and blue cut velvet in a floral design, both bodice and skirt lined in off white cotton. According to the donor: "The cream and blue faille [gown] was the wedding gown of Louisa's daughter, Emily Louise Weeks, who married Henry Oliver Robinson, a Ware merchant. We do not know where the gown came from, but her brother was foreign buyer for Lord and Taylor, traveled to Europe every year and sent back beautiful things to his 'little sister.'" The bodice has high V-neckline and 3/4 length sleeves, trimmed with lace. The skirt has a train, bustle, as well as additional decoration of cat o'nine tails/pussy willow on center front gored panel.
