Description:
Japanese netsuke. A compact design of a ferocious dragon holding a jewel (tama) with one claw, stylized flame around his body.

Label Text:
The dragon is a mythical creature that has existed within man’s imagination throughout many places and time periods. In the East, despite a ferocious demeanor, the dragon is considered an auspicious, even benevolent creature. Associated with winds, mist, clouds, and fire, the dragon embodies the constant renewal of the universe and the mystical cycle of creation.
