Description:
"Alexander Oviatt, Jr.," of Milford, Connecticut, Crown Point, New York. Alexander Oviatt, Jr. served during the 1759 campaign. He is also listed as serving in the 1761 campaign. The combination geometric and floral device prominently displayed on this horn strongly resembles J.W.'s signature device, as does a smaller floral design. The lettering is carefully planned but not as expertly executed as J.W.'s. The rhyme is crudly incised and unshaded but it is plotted between three lines and is not, therefore, a later addition.
