Artist's Statement:
I believe in the freedom to transform. Artists enjoy and embrace this freedom through the manipulation of materials and conditions. A boulder, for instance, might be remade as a hollow form composed of papier-maché. In digital design programs, an artist can use the Free Transform tool to alter the scale and shape of an object thereby creating new relationships to other objects and spaces. These simple but effective shifts and replacements can inspire people to consider what might be changed in the world outside of art, where not all transformations are so easily accomplished. I believe in the freedom to transform oneself, a scenario, or society, but I also believe art equips us with the imagination that is necessary to begin that process of change.
