Description:
Powder horn inscribed "Stephen Upson..." and attributed to Jacob Gay. Stephen Upson is listed as a private serving from July 12 to December 20, 1775 in the 7th Connecticut Regiment. He served at Winter Hill in 1775, and was killed at Harlem Heights during the New York campaign of September 1776. This is a fine Jacob Gay horn with elaborate architectural scrolls and pediments embellished with floral decoration bordering the inscriptions. There is a profusion of wonderfully executed animal all labled with the first letter of their names.
