Label Text:
Another example of this design is held by the Boston MFA (2000.380a–c), which is dated to October, 1894. It is likely that this impression is from the original edition by Fukuda Kumajirō (firm name Gusokuya), given its coloration and sharpness of line, which appear to be superior to the Boston impression, therefore implying it is from the first run. It is possible, though less likely based on its condition, that it, like many of the other prints in this album, may be from a later edition. There are no surviving publisher's marks, however, so a certain attribution is not possible at this point. - BB, 2014
