Label Text:
The brass pointer moves over a white enamel dial with black characters of the twelve signs of the zodiac: rat, ox, tiger, hare, dragon, and snake, horse, sheep, monkey, cock, dog, and boar. Here, it’s positioned in the field of the Dog, the sign for 2018 (and coincidentally, also for 1958, the year the Mead acquired this timepiece). In the pierced and carved circular brass base are emblems of eight Buddhist deities, commonly associated with the zodiac animals. Here it would be Amida Nyorai.
