Description:
View of the Arch of Septimius Severus, still half-buried, with the Church of St. Martina in the background to the right. A single column stands in the foreground to the left. Beneath the image is an inscription with the title and a key to the numbered elements of the composition.

1: Erario antico, o come altri Tempio di Saturno. oggi S. Adriano. [Ancient Treasury, or another Temple of Saturn, now Saint Adrian.]

2: S. Martina architettura da Pietro da Cortona. Chiesa dell'Academia del Disegno, detta di S. Luca. [Saint Martina architecture by Pietro da Cortona. The church of the Academy of Design, called Saint Luke.]

3: L'antico Carcere mamertino, nel quale sono stati posti i SS. Pietro e Paolo. Sopra questo si vede eretta la Chiesa di S. Giuseppe. [The Ancient Mamertine Prison, in which were held Saints Peter and Paul. Above it is seen erected the Church of Saint Joseph.]
