Description:
Preserve Jar, prob. Connecticut, early 19th century. Redware. Straight sided jar with original lid with knop finial. Jar has several incised lines at spaced intervals along the sides of the pot. Slightly metallic glaze decoration. According to New England redware expert and scholar Justin Thomas, this jar was probably made in Hartford, CT, but its lack of wear and brand new appearance means that it could possibly be a reproduction made at Old Sturbridge Village.
