Description:
Cylindrical tea canister with beaded base edge, rounded shoulders and straight collar neck (missing lid), made in Staffordshire, England, and decorated in Holland, c. 1770-1780. Lead-glazed cream-colored earthenware (creamware) with overglaze green, yellow, and rust red enamels, canister is decorated with stylized decoration of stiff, angular branches, leaves, and fruit (similar to bittersweet), and a central design on the side of a plant with leaves in a rust-colored circle, the design is in a “Japanese style.”
