Description:
Man’s large rectangular shoe buckle, made by Jeremiah Snow III (1735-1803) or possibly Jeremiah Snow IV (1764-c.1821-23), Springfield, Massachusetts, area, c.1785. Brass with stamped floral decoration, incuse mark on frame bar, “I.SNOW.” in rectangle. (Missing its central chape, pin, and tongue). This shoe buckle was found by the donor hanging on a nail in the attic of the Chapin Tavern in Chicopee, MA.
