Description:
Side chair with grain-painted and stenciled surface, marked by William Moore, Jr. The stiles, legs, and splat are decorated with gold painted stencil motifs including leaves and fruit. The front stretcher is elaborately turned, as are the front legs and crest rail. The two side stretchers and rear stretcher are plainly turned. The cane seat once likely held a cushion. Moore's home is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The surface decoration is original, the cane is likely replaced.
