Description:
Thrown redware pitcher with large spout, straight collar, applied ribbed strap handle, and swelled shoulders, and tapered base with molded edge, pot has orange ground color covered with a green and orange glaze, with sponged manganese brown decoration, attached on the underside is a paper label with red borders, printed in ink on the label is “Col. 1914 by/ Osborn, Phil./ Schuylkill Valley” and in red paint, “195” in a circle. There is a large chip off the spout. This object was originally part of the Burton N. Gates Collection. Original Gates notecard reads, "Pitcher, Red clay. Orange red with green glaze. Black spatter decoration. 8 1/4" high/ 5" base./ col. 1914, dec. by Osborn, Phila. Schuylkill Valley."
