Description:
Blown three mold colorless lead glass decanter, circular bulbous body with a tall tapered neck with a wide lip, slightly concave bottom; blown into a three part mold decorated with diamond diapering alternating with waffle in a starburst design, there are slanted ribs above this decoration, and straight ribs on the neck; there are straight ribs on the base; the neck of the bottle is flattened horizontally to receive a stopper; the flattened, oval shaped stopper is pressed into a mold with cross hatching in the interior and radiating ribs on the rim; the stopper attaches to a round plug which is ground to fit into a ground neck of the decanter; the base of the decanter has a sunburst design, there is a blow pipe pontil mark in the center of the base. Condition: there are some seeds (unmelted bits of the glass batch) and some air holes in the glass decanter. McKearin GIII-20.
