Description:
Drape molded, circular redware dish with crimped edge and white slip decoration, the slip is applied in blobs in a zig-zag pattern across the surface of the plate, probably Pennsylvania, late 19th or early 20th century. Condition: The dish is in excellent condition. The dish has no evidence of wear on the glaze or much use on the reverse. Many Pennsylvania potteries continued to make slip-decorated earthenware into the 20th century. Some of these wares were obvious reproductions, while others were made to deceive. This object, made in the late 19th or early 20th century, will be used for study and comparison with authentic 19th-century examples.
