Description:
Militia knapsack storage box from Leverett, Massachusetts, which is painted on the top "LEVERETT/ Light Infantry / KNAPSACKS / 1827 / pluribus unum." This wooden box, which has its original green paint with black and yellow decoration and a lift cover with leather hinges, may be the only example of a militia knapsack storage box known.
