Description:
Side chair in maple, painted black with gilt decoration in the coach painting tradition. The chair has a yoked crest rail over an urn-shaped splat and plain lower back rail with gilded line decoration; acorn finials over turned back stiles; trapezoidal rush seat; simple turned front legs ending in unusual ringed feet; turned front stretchers; and plain side and back stretchers and rear legs, which taper in at the floor.
